This group of four Federal era row houses is a beautiful addition to the Society Hill streetscape. They embody the Federal era's increased attention to elegance and restraint with their curving staircases and simple detailing. Small changes, like the absence of any beltcourses to break up the wall surface, replacing the Georgian brick water table with a marble base, eliminating elaborate frontispieces and a plain clipped cornice show the transition from Georgian to the Federal style.
